Camellia ‘Dr Clifford Parks’ is combinations of reticulata and japonica species.
‘Dr. Clifford Parks’ puts forth enormous, peony-form, sometimes anemone-form, flowers in deep scarlet. Numerous cultivars available with every imaginable shade of pink, red, white and combination of available.
According to American Camellia Society information, ‘Dr Clifford Parks’ first bloomed in 1970. Place of origination is Los Angeles State & County Arboretum, Arcadia, California. Pollen parent is C. japonica ‘Kramer’s Supreme’ and seed parent is C. reticulata ‘Crimson Robe’.
Dr Clifford Parks is suitable for planting in both, full sun or lightly shaded positions. Camellias must have acidic, well-drained soil and be planted high (trunk base is well above the soil line) in a protected climate, free from extended heavy freezes.
It has received the “Frank L. Stormont Reticulata Award” for 1976, the “William E. Woodroof Camellia Hall of Fame Award” for 1983, the “Aubrey Harris Hybrid Award” for 1977 and the “National Hall of Fame Award” for 1979, 1981 and 1982.

Information/Facts

Camellia Japonica ‘Regina dei Giganti’ is one of japonica species.
It has semi double with fluted petals form flowers. Medium to large size flowers. The color is bright pink/cherry red.
Originated as a seedling in Italy by Charles Luzzatti, Florence.
Synonyms: ‘Gloriosa Superba’, ‘Gloriosa’, ‘Pink Silk Satin’, ‘Rosalie’, Rosalie’(South), ‘Rainsford Cantelou’, ‘Hall Townes’, ‘W.H. Hastie’.
