Plant: Camellia japonica ‘Emperor of Russia’ 蘇聯皇帝

I saw this Camellia japonica ‘Emperor of Russia’ at the Huntington Library in early January. I noticed this brilliant red with golden stamens camellia again in early February. Regretfully, I still can’t grasp the technique of photographing red flowers. I have noticed that my camera often has problems with focus or reflections of light for red flowers. Otherwise Camellia japonica ‘Emperor of Russia’ is quite attractive.
我在亨廷頓圖書館一月初的時候看到這種蘇聯皇帝山茶花，二月初又注意到這大紅色有著金色雄蕊的山茶花。很可惜我還抓不住照大紅色花朵的技巧，我注意到我的照相機常會有對焦或反光問題。否則蘇聯皇帝山茶花頗吸引人的。

Words of the Day

Let’s meditate on the name of God – El Chay, the Living God. Our idols can take an infinite variety of forms—people, health, education, money, success, shopping. They are golden and beautiful, and we think that if only we can attain them, then we will be happy. But they never quite deliver. We might obtain happiness temporarily but emptiness inside and disappointments eventually come after chasing the idols. However, El Chay, the living God, is different. He is the maker of heaven and earth. In Genesis, as we watch the creation of the world unfold one by one, God created and breathed life into each of the living creatures. He is the source of life. We have a purpose given to us by the Creator of Heaven and Earth when we follow Him and allow Him to live inside of us and listen to Him. When we know that our life has purpose and goal, we will have hope and happiness in this life.
